Ganesh Chathurthi

6 and 7 Sep 2024

Bhagavan Ganesha, the son of Shiva and Shakti, is revered as the remover of obstacles and the embodiment of wisdom, intelligence, and innocence. His form is a powerful representation of cosmic intelligence, symbolizing the union of both divine masculine and feminine energies. With his elephant head, he embodies strength and gentleness, making him approachable for all devotees.

Ganesha holds significant philosophical meanings in his four hands:

  • The noose (Ankusha) represents the power of unclutching from distractions.

  • The pasha symbolizes control over attachments that can lead to suffering.

  • His broken tusk signifies sacrifice and spontaneity in life.

  • The sweet (Modaka) reminds us that with these qualities, life becomes sweet.

He is worshipped by millions across India and beyond due to his undemanding nature; even a simple offering like a coconut or a piece of clay can invoke his blessings.

The KAILASA movement is founded and spearheaded by members of the Hindu Adi Shaivite minority community from Canada, the United States and other Countries and is created for and offers a safe haven to all the world’s practicing, aspiring or persecuted Hindus, irrespective of race, gender, sect, caste, or creed, where they can peacefully live and express their spirituality, arts, and culture free from denigration, interference and violence.
